Hi, i am new to the Banjo Hangout and glad to find a little UK corner!

I was send to the site by my friend and neighbour who also inspired me to buy a banjo. I have loved the banjo my whole life but never thought I would be able to learn.

Well i have had my banjo 2 weeks now and getting to grips with the chords and rolls and slowly picking out a couple of tunes from the beginners books...Red River Valley!

	the Twanger says: 8/23/2012 9:55:50 AM Go for it. Word of warning it's addictive, frustrating and a lot of fun. You will have good and bad times but do stick with it. You never know in 20 years time you might be half decent! Welcome aboard this is a great site with loads of advice and tips. Enjoy.

I am already seriously addicted and any free moment my banjo is in my hand and we are off camping this weekend and yes the banjo is coming with me! I have also experienced a small frustration-rolls and chord changes are like patting your head and rubbing your tummy at the same time but its not enought to stop me-even doing simple strums to Red River Valley to practice just three chords is giving me great pleasure, after all these years of thinking I would never 'play' the banjo :) i even have a fund set up to buy a better one when i have improved enough.
