Bbdave says: 12/16/2018 1:30:21 AM I don't have a style yet but would like to learn to play clawhammer. I am leaning towards the Rover RB22 from Andybanjo.
alfiedog says: 12/16/2018 3:16:57 PM You dont have to spend big buck's to get started on the Banjo. If i was you i would look on Ebay for an old Kay, or something similar. Just steer clear of the bottle top Banjo's ie/ aluminium pot, the tone aint that good.
conic says: 12/17/2018 4:07:53 AM There is a nice fender deluxe currently £49 on Ebay but the neck looks twisted or has been tampered with and not mounted correctly so I would not go for this but there is a nice looking deering goodtime 2 currently a good price of £300 ansd 0 bids but its up in 3 hrs. if it dont sell then call the cash converter in telford where its at and offer them £250.. Phone:01952 254230 Email:wellington.newstreet@cashconverters.com
Bbdave says: 12/17/2018 1:38:55 PM Thanks folks due to this months wages being late I'll have to wait till after Christmas. Fingers crossed for some post Christmas Ebay bargains.
Bbdave says: 12/18/2018 3:57:15 AM Are the resonators removable? Or is it not a big issue playing clawhammer on a resonator banjo I ask a their seems to be more available second hand.
Bbdave says: 12/18/2018 9:52:44 AM Any opinions on this? m.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=...050490329
conic says: 12/18/2018 10:26:50 AM Looks ok, if I did not have a banjo I would pay about £150 for this. from what I have read, it may not be a usa kay but made in germany. Try and contact local pickers, there are 9 listed in devon. just click, "more" then member search
Bbdave says: 12/18/2018 11:08:03 AM Thanks I have tried but only seem to get the American states as options.
alfiedog says: 12/18/2018 12:08:20 PM personally i would go to £100, and no more on it. Bide your time they are always coming up.
conic says: 12/18/2018 12:34:59 PM more, member search. dont search from the box at the top but scroll down to the advanced search . just fill in "City" = Devon and "country" = uk. Or try to copy / paste the link below. also search other areas, bristol, somerset etc There is a very good Claw hammer guy in north somerset called Mike Bostock who is also a teacher , his username is "mbuk06" banjohangout.org/myhangout/def...it=Search
Bbdave says: 12/18/2018 10:51:56 PM Cheers I'll have a look
