bart_brush says: 2/16/2016 3:00:20 PM Your post made me realize I don't know any except Waltzing Matilda. (I'll have to work on that.) I don't have a tab, but you can pick out the notes easily in standard G tuning, starting on the 2nd string open for the verse. The other notes are on the 3rd string (fret 2 and open), 4th string (fret 2, fret 4, and open), then up to the 2nd string (fret 3) for the high note, etc. The chorus is a little more complicated because it goes 4 notes higher. It can be played two ways. A) Start with the 2nd string (fret 3) for the words "Waltzing Ma-til- , then go to the 2nd string open for the -da syllable, then up to fret 8 for the second "Waltzing Ma-, down to fret 7 for -til- and then fret 5 for -da, and continue with the lower notes as in the verse. B) You can also play the chorus up the neck in 7th position. This means your left hand is positioned so that your 1st finger is at the 7th fret. The first notes are on the 3rd string (fret 7). The -da syllable goes down either to the 2nd string open or the 4th string (fret 9). The next note, for the second, third and fourth notes ("Waltz-ing Ma-") is on the 2nd string (fret 8). Other notes will be found at 2nd string (fret 7), 3rd string (frets 9 and 7), 4th string (frets 10, 9 and 7), and 3rd string open. (You will have to go back to regular 1st position to get the low notes in the chorus: "And he sang as he sat there waiting while his billy boiled you'll come." These notes in the 7th position lend themselves to slides, bends, hammers and pulls. To get used to this position, play the notes listed above as an exercise, up and down the scale.
	RJWMitchell says: 2/25/2016 12:50:19 PM Hi. I posted a 2-finger Waltzing Matilda tab to banjohangout some time ago. In G. Another great one for 2 finger is Rye buck shearer. I work out 2 finger either by just doodling around with the tune and falling into it or by working out a three finger version and retrofitting. I have my notes on about 23 aussie folk songs but they are at home 3300 k away. I will be back in late March and if you're still interested I'll contact you again then.
