3 finger Scruggs videos , why are they here ?

From brudford on 2/24/2011 6:07:38 AM

I watched all the videos that were linked here , many of these

are not two finger playing , thumb lead nor index lead . Some of these videos you can plainly see have all three fingers going, index , thumb and middle finger . You can alwayst tell three finger Scruggs style by it's thin sound . Scuggs style is an ensemble way of playing needing back-up instruments . True two finger picking is either a solo way of playing or as a back - up for singing . Scruggs style is a modern invention and two finger playing is ancient ,maybe dating well before Clawhammer. BH does have a Scruggs style forum ,you could post your Bluegrass Scruggs style playing there . Not to confuse in several of these videos you may see a player switching between thumb lead and index lead but never playing with all three fingers going at the same time playing Scuggs style rolls . A thumb lead picker may at times use his index finger to pick-up a first or second string . Or a index lead player may use his thumb to pick-up a 3rd or 4th string .

Examples of Scruggs style videos linked to this group, please?

I second that. The only one I see that I'd consider removing is the most recent video linked by Mr. Deleuran. It is an old time 3-finger video, but by no means is it Scruggs style.

I have seen them all, and I can't find any, except if you mean my latest link Roving Gambler where a the middle finger sneaks it's way in. But I wouldn't exactly call it Scruggs style. My intention was to make it thumb lead but...
Sorry if I have offended anybody. It won't happen again. Maybe :-)

I would never single anyone out as not wanting to hurt anyones feelings , however watch some of these videos and you will see all three finger moving constantly playing forward and backward three finger style Scuggs rolls . I played Scruggs Bluegrass for a few years . I'am sorry if some cannot hear or see the difference .

I have no problem with seeing or hearing, and i cannot see three fingers in any of the videos, except the one with me I mention above. And it's not Scruggs style but old-time picking.
Take a look again.

the 2-finger videos are only linked to this page so when you open one, there will be other videos present which are not actually linked to this page but are archived with the one you opened. that make sense?

Yes Chip. That makes sense. If you click on one video here you'll get to the place where the video is placed in the common video library, and there's a lot of Scruggs style there.
By the way I am sorry that my answers turn up twice here. I don't know why??
