What type of banjo is best for two fingered style//

hi every one i 'm new here. I have been playing two finger thumb lead and index lead style for a while now . And I was wondering what type of banjo do people who play two finger prefer?I think it can sound good with a resonator,in fact i play it on one.I wonder what would be the best set up this style too. Steel strings would be best for more bluegrass like styles.But for more older variance nylon or gut would be appropriate.But the best action, i don't know.

	chip arnold says: 3/4/2015 8:29:20 PM I like a bright sound with steel strings. Steel strings have been around for a very long time. Ask yourself what you most like to hear and go with that.

Mostly I've played steel strings over the years, but just bought an old banjo strung with nylon from eBay, and am going to get a gut strung banjo one of these days. I used to play my steel strung banjo with picks, but decided I liked the sound of real fingers better. It was hard switching back--felt like my finger tips were missing! I like low action. Chip--thanks for the link to your instrument site. Good photos of instruments (the dime is an elegant addition) and VERY ingenious clamps!
	chip arnold says: 3/5/2015 8:31:34 AM Thanks for the kind words, Bart After 40+ years of playing with what J. Roy Stalcup called "nekkid fingers", I'm having to learn to use picks. My skin is too thin now and my nails break easily, so picks have to be the answer. Old age ain't for sissies :-)
	that guy with the banjo says: 3/5/2015 12:06:04 PM I will get some videos in soon,its just hard to get everything together right now.Bart i think you should definitely look into getting a gut strung banjo.They in my opinion sound better then nylon or nylgut.Just be carful not to let any sharp edges touch them and keep them dry.They can last a long time if they are kept properly.I wish i still had them on my banjo.
	vic rawlings says: 3/5/2015 1:45:42 PM I tend to play the more aggressive/faster/inherently louder stuff on my resonator banjos and the more sedate ones on open backed banjos with steel or nylgut strings- there's no solid ground here- try a bunch of things out and do more of what sounds good!
	DH#52 says: 3/5/2015 5:58:36 PM I only use one banjo--an old Vega Regent. I'm no a vintage snob, it's just that it was less expensive than a lot of the newer, great open backs. Plus it's a Vega!!

I am more of a novice player but decided to get a better banjo after I learned on some chords and scales on an old Fender metal pot. I also have an all Rosewood Wildwood Paragin Banjo and ejoy it for some playig. Let your Ear guide you to what sounds best.
