Hi all, I'm a new picker, been going 6 months since makng my own 23inch scale length banjo. Am learning scruggs styl and stumbled acorss 2 finge drop thumb uppickin style. love the sound. I've linked 3 tabs in this styl that i've arranged. Feedback welcome.

	hamishpink says: 7/4/2013 12:28:00 PM Nice start, but try not to think of it as drop thumb. This is 2 finger thumb lead, with the dominant melody notes played with the thumb and the first string acting as the drone. This limits melody on the first string but you can 'drop finger' moving off the first onto the inner strings. The altenative to this is 'index lead' where the thumb returns to a 5th string drone and the index finger up picks the melody notes. Now you can use drop thumb and the first string is available for melody notes. Mix the two styles together and put in far more left hand work (slides HOs and POs) than you would use in Scruggs style and you've got some inventive play going. Check out Chip Arnold's homepage for some great index lead samples, also Kevin Holmes. Dip into the tab archive for 2 finger and look for Janolav's tabs which will show you the potential of mixed leads and good left hand work.
