I am new here, finally realized what I was looking for was the thumb lead two finger style. My Ome Wizard will be here in two days, I am present.y playing my Stelling, One thing I like about two finger is, if you played guitar, like I have, for forty years, you can teach yourself quite a bit, but I would like some tips or instruction. Is there an online instructor or a book you would recommend?

	Frailinaway says: 7/15/2012 9:19:17 AM "Five-String Banjo for Beginners" -- Happy Traum, a DVD put out by Homespun Video. The title is, to me, a bit misleading because the material is not just for beginners. Like you, I was a guitar player and by following Mr. Traum's instruction on this DVD, I was playing recognizable (at least kinda) tunes in a short time. I return to this DVD fairly frequently and strongly recommend it to you.

Sean Barth's site, with thumb-lead tabs and mp3 audio files is 2ftlbanjer.wordpress.com/ If you search "thumb lead" on youtube you will find some examples. I do not believe there is a book that specifically addresses two-finger style, but I would guess that there is at least one book out there that includes it as an example of a one style of playing. As for an instructor, Sean Barth's teacher page on the BHO (mojo_monk) suggests he takes students. The link to that page on BHO is banjohangout.org/teacher/mojo_monk janolov (search thumb lead in tab secion of BHO) has provided a lot of great tabs.

The first two (of six) lessons are on two-finger thumb lead playing. There is a web site devoted to this style as well: 2ftlbanger.wordpress.com. There are a number of youtube videos as well.

It has a chapter on two-finger picking, both thumb and index lead as well as much material on clawhammer and old-time three finger picking.
