A Top Tension in my future

From banjoronny on 4/9/2014 4:21:42 AM

I'm getting the itch for a Top Tension banjo. I have not decided what style to have built. A 7-12 or 18. I'm really not a fan of the gold plating and engraving so I will probably scratch the 18 idea. I finally located some new TT hardware & I'm off and running. Any suggestions for a future TT owner & player?

Hello,

I have enjoyed playing an 2005 RB-12. I use it with a Lakota strap. This makes it easier to manage the weight. I also repurposed the periscope arm rest. The base and an old tuning peg are a mount for my Shure 98 mic. In its place is a custom Little Mountain walnut arm rest. Finally, my preference with tailpieces is a 1934 parallel Fults.

I have enjoyed the walnut neck and no spikes. The tone of an RB-12 is more variable than my other banjo. Having more than one voice is good for the ears and to my wife. Post some pictures in your profile and add to the Forum. Best wishes for you.
