Armrest Loosening Problem

From heavythumb on 11/3/2011 10:49:07 AM

I have a 1939, Gibson, TB-18 conversion and  the thumbscrew that secures the armrest, frequently loosens up.  I don't want to torque it with pliers or anything like that , but do you guys have a similar problem and have come up wiht a solution?

TIA

Yes, mine gets loose a little once in a while. Like you i don't want to over tighten. So, I just tweak it a little every once in a while. Kind of like when I check to see if the Reso screws are tight.

Hello Heavythumb,

Is this clacking against the tension ring? My 2005 RB-12 seems to do just that. I do not notice it after I engage to play. I agree with Banjodad, do not over tighten.

I have drilled a recessed shallow hole where the bolt encounters the rod in the channel. It keeps the armrest solid.
