Just moved here

From bluejazz on 12/4/2013 2:26:29 PM

Hello fellow Tennesseans.

I just moved to Goodlettsville from St Louis and I'm trying to find my way around.  I already found Ned Luberecki and started taking lessons from him last night.

I'm also looking to jam in the Nashville area.  I know about the Fiddle and Pick.  If anyone has any other good ideas of places to look for jams, please let me now.

I'm not looking for high end 'bring your A game' type jams, I am only about 1 year into playing the banjo.  My 'A game' may cause drowsiness.  :-)

Jeff

Welcome to Tennessee! Have you visited the Station Inn yet?

I'm in west TN...so the only jam I'm aware of that is somewhat near you would be the Fiddle N Pick.

Thanks guys. I did not know about the Station Inn. I will have to check it out.

Here are two suggestions. The first one is...

Try the Millersville Community Center, 1st & 3rd Friday of the month barring inclement weather.

Gene Duggan will be happy to put you on his email list, just give him a call; he'll be glad to hear from you.

Here is the info from his latest email:

1181 Louisville Hwy (Hwy 31 W), Millersville. Exit 98 off I-65 just north of Goodlettesville

No Millersville Bluegrass Jam - December 6

Given the weather forecast for this afternoon/evening, and the predicted icing, we are going to cancel the Millersville Bluegrass Jam for tonight, December 6, 2013.

Our next Millersville Bluegrass Jam will be Friday, January 3, 2014.

Henceforth, any Millersville Bluegrass Jam closings due to weather will coincide with Davidson County school closings due to weather. That should make any potential weather related closings easier to follow.

Thank you for your support this last year, and we look forward to seeing you in 2014.

The second suggestion is a place called the Authentic Coffee located on Hwy 31 W about 4 miles past the Community Center referenced above. It will be 1/4 mile on the right after you crest the top of the hill. Look for the sign in front of the cabin.

Jam is pretty loose every Friday night starting around 5-6 pm and goes until around 10-11 pm.

You'll find Bluegrass and some old time style jams there.

Both places are real close to you. I usually go to the Authentic Coffee so if you come up ask for me, it'll be nice to meet you.

I take lessons with Ned too! He's great! Station inn is good but if you want something a little earlier on Sunday, check out the Old Time Pickin Parlor at Marathon Motor Works. Things usually start pickin up there around 2 and go to about 5. I always have a great time at that jam and everyone is very friendly.

Hey Jon, maybe I'll see you there or at Ned's. Thanks for these. I was hoping I might find one more place to jam, and I hit the mother lode. :-) Thanks, Jeff
