Pilgrim banjo action adjustment

Hi everyone,
I've just bought a Pilgrim Progress 6-STRING GUITAR BANJO VPBG26
It sounds great, but I am struggling with high action and I don't know what I can do to reduce it...
The action at the 12th fret is a whopping 7mm - I'd regard 4mm as a high action, 2mm as low)
If this was an electric guitar, I'd grab my allen keys and make all the adjustments myself but I don't see how you lower the action on this banjo. Whilst i suppose a lower bridge might improve it slightly I'm not all that convinced this would solve the problem because if i place a straight edge along the frets the neck actually points inward back into the body rather than pointing outwards at the top of the bridge (so its the opposite to something like a Gibson SG where the neck is angled outwards to intersect with the bridge)
Does this banjo have rods inside the body (co-ordinating rods?) that allow you to adjust the neck angle?
If so, whats the process for adjusting them?
I bought the banjo online, I've contacted the company that sold it who suggested a lower bridge (the supplied bridge is 5/8" 16mm) and a truss rod adjustment (but i really dont see how a truss-rod adjustment would help)

This the problem with buying any instrument untried and unseen. I am not familiar with guitar banjos but would think they could be set up using the coordinating rods the same as any other banjo. There is plenty of advice on doing this online or take it to someone with experience either another banjo player or a luthier who is familiar with banjos.

You are right, that is indeed the potential problem with buying any instrument untried and unseen. That doesn't excuse the online store if they claim to do more than ship you an instrument direct from the manufacturer - if they claim they will give the instrument a proper set up before sending it out to the customer then "caveat emptor" should not apply. In this case i reckon they've been less than honest about what they do - for example, I once bought an electric guitar online because the store claimed each guitar was setup before shipping and they were true to their word it came with a superb setup, but in this case I am cross
Anyway I have removed the 4 screws that attach the back, and I see there is a single coordinating rod, ok not the two you apparently get on more expensive banjos but i can see how this will reduce the action frets.com/FretsPages/Musician/...rod2.html
I'm not going to attempt it now as its late, but over the weekend i reckon i will have it sorted and then i will report back, and quite possibly name and shame the charlatan outfit who told me i could fix the action with a truss rod adjustment.
