In addition to some USA acoustic guitars(and an amazing-looking Feb '81 3/4 sized d/nought made by Coventry's Rob Armstrong in sitka/Brazilian rosewood)my collection(which I'll have to familiarize myself with again after a life-threatening accident 7 yrs ago and built up thru many yrs of 8-day weeks coalmining & psych nursing)contains a doctored Ibanez 529 mandolin(braces shaved/v-neck smoothed out/FQMS bridge/Japanese Monteleone-copy t/pce)and 2(blonde and brown)Ibanez FB 593 banjos.Couldn't agree more with Scott Zimmerman re ORIGINAL sound of the 529s.Years ago my brown 593 went to a quirky,spectacular(multi-instrumentalist wise)ultra-talented banjo player and lovely man(now sadly dead post years of senile dementia)for a better-sounding rim(only to have a headstock accident where some of the 'Bella Voce' inlay? received a blow and was kinda crudely stuck back in as best the guy knew how to).A divorced friend/wonderful nitpicking craftsman has moved out of area but could be persuaded to improve on banjo's situation.Anyone know if these were inlays,overlays or what?.Kindest regards,Nick.
