007 - Licence to thrill

I wondered who was ringing me at 8am this morning and let the phone ring out, however you should have seen how fast I moved when the text came in from UPS to say they would be in town in 10mins - it takes me 20mins to get to town. Luckily I got to speak with the driver and make an arrangement.

Irish country supermarkets can be surprising however not everyone gets to go grocery shopping and leave the supermarket with bread, chocolate (it is Valentines Day after all), eggs and oh yeah - a Pilgrim Shady Grove 007.

Oh what a beauty! The neck is so slim and the pot such a neat size, it just fits me so well. Now I really understand why some folk respond yes to the beginners question of should I spend quite a bit of money instead of going for something cheap?

Well I've had the cheap ebay banjo, aluminium ring although a sweet thing that hardly needed tuning unless I took it on a journey in cold weather. This little baby is something else and I don't really think I could appreciate it had I not been playing my old Ozark for nearly two years on and off.

My beloved says I already play better and look so much more relaxed holding it than the old Ozark - which is going on to greener pastures with a friend who is interested in giving the banjo a go.

Got to go, I have a banjo to play :)

I've only had it a couple of months but I already feel that I play better. It's really helped. Paul Tebbut has done a really good job in designing these beauties. I was concerned about spending that many spondulicks on it however now I am content enough with the price and the quality is amazing, I got great value from banjosdirect, lucky to spot a sale option.
