Hi--I don't know if an old question on here was ever answered but here's my two pennorth.Opinions do vary about the degree of tonal solidity re bracket bands vs drilled shells.I do know that it's necessary to take the neck off the banjo pot to tighten up loose bracket shoes/screws on a bracket band banjo. It might be an idea to put a tiny dab of eg Superglue in the bracket shoe threads before successfully tightening/reassembly.What is the Pilgrim Morning Star's rim made of?.On the one I took apart it certainly resembled 3-ply maple.
