Thought I would make a post here about my Juggernaut. Serial # 1469 which puts it in 1976. I got it awhile back from the original owner and I'm fairly sure the strings were still original. It was pretty dusty inside the resonator and the metal had dulled a lot. I got a compliment on it from a member here that saw my picture on my home page. This banjo had a great sound to it and I was really hesitant to dismantle it to bring back its luster. However after the email compliment I decided to jump in. I took it apart and polished every hook, nut, bracket shoe, rim, ring, all tuning pegs, even the bolts that hold the shoes on. Replaced the clear head with a frosted one. It took a few days and rough on my fingers trying to hold each piece. Back together now and beautiful!! Removing all the dust, grime, and patina didn't affect the tone of the banjo at all. It is still very very good to my ears. I used " never dull", and white diamond metal polish from Walmart automotive dept. Rubbed on with one cloth and buffed and polished with a clean white t-shirt. I'm going to get some pictures of the before and after on this site. If I can't figure that out and anybody wants pictures, I'll be glad to answer any emails.

Unfortunately, now that Ringling Brother's circus has decided to shut down after all these years, Bill's going to be out of job as Magician pretty soon. Maybe we can start a 'gofundme' account for him as a banjo restorer so he can still carry on his magic act :)
