model 43 long neck is coming

From john bange on 1/10/2018 6:27:00 AM

since the late 50's, I've lusted after Martin guitars and Vega banjos.  All the while, there was another banjo, one I didn't see as often that interested me.  I was able to finally get one yesterday.

it looks a little dirty and in need of some TLC.  I'm just the guy for that.  I bought my Ode from a fellow BHO member and will add a photo or two when I get it cleaned up and setting in it's new case.  I will spend the next week waiting and collecting parts.

I'm happy I found this group.  It looks like a wealth of information.  I've always admired Kwfolk1's banjos.

my new, 1964 Ode is here. I spent the better part of the day repairing the broken dowel stick and cleaning the neck. I hope my repair holds 'cause the serial number is on the matching stick.
The Rotomatics are tarnished and a new geared 5th sting peg are addressed. I replaced the broken sliding capo.

brighter than my Vega, with it's own voice...I love it. 28 brackets are a pain though.

dowel stick repair is solid and neck is tight. new case is here and old Lifton is sent to new owner. I fooled around, trying to make a little profit on it but I like it too much to let it go for a bargin so, I guess it stays. I can think of worse things.

43 turned out to be a fiasco, costing me some dough. the headstock was broken and repaired along with the broken dowel stick. the dowel stick was obvious but the headstock was difficult to see...until it failed.
I sold it off.
I have a Baldwin/Ode coming that I hope will be in better shape.

Linked by 35planar 7 years ago: Looking for an ODE 5-string neck, pre-Baldwin, dowel stick or no dowel stick, long or standard, tuners or none as long as the truss rod, frets, and wood are decent with no twist. I know, seems futile.
