From ChuckH55 on 10/28/2011 6:46:40 PM

Nov 4 @ 9PM PST on PBS a special on the Banjo. Thought I would pass it along.

Give Me the Banjo

Steve Martin Narrates Chronicle of the Country's Music, History and Popular Culture Through "America's Quintessential Instrument"

Narrated by Steve Martin, Give Me the Banjo brings together contemporary players-including Pete Seeger, Earl Scruggs, Bela Fleck, Mike Seeger, Don Vappie, Abigail Washburn and The Carolina Chocolate Drops-with folklorists, historians, instrument makers and passionate amateurs to tell the story of America's instrument in all its richness and diversity.

Great, I think these shows can help those of us beginning, finding out more about the roots of our music.
