Howdy folks...thought I would share a social networking site that I've known about for maybe 6 months now. Meetup.com is a way to find people close to you (by zip code) that are interested in the same things you are. The group genre is unlimited but I've only joined groups that are music lovers looking for people to jam with. There is one in Winston and a relatively new one in Boone. I've considered starting my own in Lenoir/Hickory for "less than impressive" players. I'm not a band quality player but realize the invaluable benefit of playing with others in similar levels.

The Charlotte Slow-jam group jam at the local farmers market with an open banjo case. ($) Jerry collects enough (he says) for the dues. ($11./mo.) If I lived closer, I would come.
