Up the neck tag lick (the high tag)

From lindafhorton53 on 6/3/2013 5:12:20 AM

Will someone tell me please, which Murphy CDs demonstrates the up the neck tag lick? I have all of Murphy's CD's and several of Casey's and saw that lick just a few weeks ago but can't remember which CD and can't find it either.  Thanks!!

I believe it was beginning banjo vol 2. Either high break to foggy or lonesome road blues.

Yes, that lick is in the high break to Foggy Mountain Breakdown.

Thanks to capmike and maplebridge! I'll look it up and get it mastered. I thought I saw it done by Casey in one of the CD's that she does the banjo break while Murphy plays the guitar, Casey also does a somewhat fancy vamping lick in that same song, just before she does the up the neck high break and I wanted to know what that lick was as well. She's vamping when she does both. I think (my brain is beginning to work now!) they're both in the CDG high break (which is # 3 on that CD, titled Easy Songs for BAnjo. Casey does both licks while vamping as Murphy sings the songs. Sorry, I've been looking for these licks for 2 days now---don't know why I was having such a problem!! It could be age? NAH, COULDN'T BE THAT!!!

Hi again, Red, I just listened to Murphy's high break to Foggy Mtn B. and that's not the lick. I put on Casey's Easy Songs for Banjo and that's it on her #3, C-G-D Songs, while she's vamping and Murphy's singing "Blue Eyes" slow. I think one of the licks Casey is doing is the 6 white horses lick but I'm trying to figure out the "up the neck tag" that Casey starts with a slide from fret 5 to what? maybe 8? It's positioned where the tag lick is supposed to go in that song but even the slow version is too fast for me to figure out. Do you know what that tag lick is? I'm learning the CGD high break and want to be able to do the vamping as well. Thanks.

Thanks Tam Zeb, I'll take a look at the Fancy Backup CD and try to get it figured out. Thanks for the info, it is greatly appreciated. I looked and looked through several of the CDs trying to find that lick again and just couldn't find it. Maybe my luck will be better this time.
