I have the beginner Vol 1 and 2. I have finished Vol#1 already and started on 2. I learned Old Joe Clark and working on Salt Creek. I also have Beyond Vamping by Casey and two Jam Videos. I had fun jamming with Murphy and Casey and friends last night. I live way up in the mountains and nobody arround to play with so those video's come in handy. When I get better at jamming I will drive down to the city and try to find a jam. But right now I am having fun jamming with the Murphy family. I am going to buy a few more videos in the near future.

I have Beginning Banjo Vol 1 & 2, Banjo for Misfits, Slow Jam with Murphy and Casey, Learning to Hear Chords, Capos Chords and Theory and Easy Songs for Banjo. Mind you, I haven't made it through all of them yet, but when the 2 for 1 sales or the monthly 1/2 price sales come up n iindulge in library building. Augie

You also took a live lesson from Casey I think Augie. How did that go?
|
 | Augie says: 3/7/2011 11:27:43 AM
Yep, I did, I would recommend it to anyone wanting to get an assessment of how they are doing and get constructive input on how to get better. She never told me to go study any Tab though. I was disappointed. I did a summary of the lesson and now that we have a group maybe I can post it. I'll have to see if that can be done.

I really don't think I will ever go back to tabs. I am the kind of person that likes to learn by looking at what the teacher is doing. It is just better and faster for me. But everybody is different. It just took me to long to learn songs by tab.

Hi Oscar, You did realize that I was joking, didn't you? Gotta watch what I write, need to put the smiley face on it.
I DO NOT BELIEVE IN USING TAB

I know Augie and I was addressing myselfe as far as tabs go. I am developing my big ear. Yee Haw.

Don't scare me like that. I don't want people to get the wrong opinion of me. Can you tell me how to attach the summary I wrote of the Hour With Casey? Some folks seem to put stuff on here very simply, not me.

I don't know how to do that Augie. You might try to copy and paste and that might work. I changed the group name to Murphy's Misfits, requested by Casey.

Hi Oscar. I like that name much better. I know that I can cut and paste all of the text, but it is kinda long. I didn't want to hog that much space. I wonder if Casey and Murphy will get on here? Augie

 | Oalbrets says: 3/7/2011 2:47:03 PM
They will join I hope and don't worry about the space. There is a lot of space here.

Hey Oscar, You do not need the apostrophy on the word Misfits in the group title. Can use erase it?

Changed Augie and thanks.

I started with Murphy back when all she had were audio cassette tapes. (!) I wore out my rewind button, but the lessons were always exceptional. I started with Beginner Vol 2, but quickly realized I needed to start at the beginning. So...I ordered Vol. 1. Although I picked "a little," it was critical to my training that I start with Murphy FROM THE VERY BEGINNING.
I went through Beginner Vol 1, Vol. 2 (playing in C tuning), Jam Session Tunes, Advanced Earl, Melodic. There are others, but I can't remember them right now. Every one of them are keepers!

Good advise Bill about starting from the beginning. To me it is very important. You learn a lot of licks that will be used in future songs. See you in the chatroom.

I have 7 DVD's and a couple of VHS from Murphy, I loaded up on the 1/2 price sale a while back. Only problem I have is that Murphy's voice is in the range that I have the worst time hearing ( 75% deaf). I really need to go back to Murphy and lay off all the other programs I have acquired.
