I gots no style...

From trapdoor2 on 3/15/2011 6:52:33 PM

I started out playing Scruggs style but took up Clawhammer about 3 yrs later. In the early 1990's I started exploring Classic style and then in the early 2000's, I started on Stroke style. Along the way I have picked up Irish Trad (tenor banjo) and lately I've been exploring a bit of jazz on the plectrum banjo.

I'd say I play mostly Classic fingerstyle with a good bit of Clawhammer and Stroke style thrown in. I rarely dig out the BG banjo or the tenor any more.

I don't gots no style neither.

I started out doing "Seeger", then learned basic frailing. Switched over to three-finger pseudo bluegrass, then clawhammer. Now that I'm doing some stuff on mandolin, I'm trying the tunes out on tenor tuned the same as the mando. At the jam I switch around - guitar, banjo, mandolin. Talk about no style!
