I've never posted here, so I hope I am in the right place. My mother has a banjo that she would like me to sell for her, and I want to be sure that i am describing it correctly.

I looked at lots of images, and I am guessing that it is a mountain banjo (if it's not, please let me know what it is). I am guessing she bought it over 20 years ago at the Galax festival, but that's just a guess.

I'd appreciate any help with what it's called, how to describe it, and ballpark price (if I'm allowed to ask that here).

	mutantmoose says: 2/1/2014 1:40:13 PM Is there a maker name somewhere on it or inside? That would really help estimate a value. You might have to remove the back, assuming that you can do that without losing tension on the head.
	suebro says: 2/1/2014 1:54:43 PM No maker name that I can see. I am not inclined to take it apart, but as soon as I can find the little mirror my husband keeps when he needs to see things he can't get to, I'll see if I can find something.
	chip arnold says: 2/1/2014 2:08:51 PM If you unscrew the back, you WILL loosen the head tension. It should go back together okay, but if you're not real familiar with mtn. banjos, I wouldn't do it.
