I just bought my first banjo today. I picked up a Gold Tone CC50 and now I need to learn to play it. Youtube is great and all but if I could actually have an "in person" instructor 2-4 times a month I feel that would be the best for me. I live in western Wisconsin but I work in St. Paul. I am looking for some good recommendations. I would like to learn old time banjo. Clawhammer and two finger seem to be the sounds I like the best. Thanks much.

	teakinmn says: 5/23/2015 7:10:46 AM Nick -- I took lessons with Mike Hedding (BHO member -- look him up!) through the Homestead Pickin Parlor (Richfield). Mike is very good player, but I'm not sure if he does clawhammer -- can't hurt to ask, and you can book lessons at any frequency you choose with him and doesn't have to be through Homestead I don't think. When you get comfortable with your progress, join the Beginner's Jam every other Tuesday evening at Homestead -- EXTREMELY helpful with learning how to play with others, and very low-pressure jamming.
