Friday evening I set up as a vendor for the weekend BG & OT outdoor festival at the El Rancho Manana camp grounds near Richmond. I had a 10x10 ft. canopy tent filled with banjos, guitars, block rims, and other banjo stuff. I had 5 people stroll by on Friday night. Two people actually touched an instrument.
I had planned to spend the night, but the mosquitos & the threat of rain convinced me to drive the hour & a half back home to Brooklyn Park. Sat. AM I drove back to the festival in the rain with all my wares in my truck. I had to sit in my truck for an hour waiting for a break in the rain to get my tent and tables into my covered truck bed without drowning everything else.
It was raining again as I was leaving. The camp ground is a HUGE hunk of typical central Minn. farm land - rolling hills, meadows, and wood lots. Very pretty when the sun shines. But evil in the rain. My truck has four wheel drive and I had a couple of slithery moments on the dirt roads in some low spots and going up a couple of hills. It was going to be tough for some campers with two wheel drive and not so new tires getting out of there.
I don't think I'll do it again.
