Not sure when the Vegalon emerged...by 1960 Dave Guard had one of the first "Big Crown" Weather Kings on one of his Seegers...that is the one now in the Banjo Hall of Fame. Did you live in the Hudson Valley back then?

I met Pete through my guitar teacher Elena Paz up at Idyllwild Music and arts camp , played with him on stage at the house concerts and stayed in contact writing back and forth till the next summer when we hooked up again,along with his half brother Mike who gave me a few lessons. Elena knew all the folks and also introduced me to Sam Hinton, Bess Hawes, and several others....but Pete was my hero.
