Mis-posted PS-5 on Ebay...

From Sean ONeel on 12/16/2016 3:10:57 PM

I saw this a few days ago listed as a "1961 FR-5"...I said "Hmmmm...I have never seen a dowel stick Folk Ranger." I just had to drop the guy a note and tell him what he has: Essentially a '61 pot with a '65ish neck to which they someone added the original dowel stick.

It will be interesting to see what the sale price is!

Looks just like my '61. There's no close up of the peg head, but everything else looks spot on-finish, tuners, etc. I don't think the neck has been changed-there was always some variation in the logo- and in 1961 they were cranking these out as fast as they could. If memory serves, that was Vega's biggest year.

I guess it's easy to tell-pull the neck and look for the lag bolt holes.

You know...I just took a closer look. When I originally saw it the logo looked like that "blockier" sans serif that they used in the mid-late 60s. I just blew it up again and NOW my feeble eyes see the "fat macaroni sans serif" that they began using in 1961. I have also seen...in fact, I owned a '61 FP-5 with the thin serif logo that Deering uses now. I have also seen one 1961 with a 28 bracket pot. Most of them went bye-bye by 1960.

Pastorharry...the bummer was me! I did the Christian thing. I cover that banjo...but I also don't want to see anybody miss out on their due.

Good man....my post was semi tongue in cheek anyway, plus I already have mine.
