I just got a Taylor 12 string from them and I discovered an Epiphone Campus long neck for $599.

	boulderfolkie says: 6/3/2015 6:40:50 PM Sorry...but it's $599 and sounds like $5.99 even in the hands of a skilled player. The model "Campus" is a dead giveaway; they were cranked out by the thousands to meet the demand of the Seeger, Gibson, and Guard wannabes of the folk boom. Lucky was the serious college student who could afford an ODE or VEGA and had the passion to keep it up even when the fad died out.

	john bange says: 6/3/2015 7:58:03 PM it is...rb175 Gibson. while they didn't have the tone and volume of the Seeger's and Ode's, they are not a bad banjo. At $599 for a US made long neck, it's not a bad deal...and a good way to get back into folk banjo. they sound great with nylon harp strings also...I set one up that way and was vary pleased with it...louder than you would expect.

Vega and ODE seem to be the only ones who developed their own designs...Vega having been around for decades and Chuck Ogsbury being the true visionary with his cast aluminum pot and so forth. I don't blame Vega & Gibson for making "economy" versions of their long necks because so many of them encouraged youth to take up the banjo and later to upgrade and become really decent players who carried on the folk tradition.
	John Gribble says: 6/4/2015 4:34:09 PM True, the 175-type banjo isn't a Vega Pete Seeger, but in materials, construction, and general playability it is comparable to many of today's well-thought-of instruments. (I think of the basic Reiter, for example.) If the instrument's in good shape, that's a good price. And they weren't cheap banjos in the day. The list on it in 1964 was $200, a pretty good monthly (not weekly) wage.
	john bange says: 6/4/2015 4:48:12 PM the necks seem stable and straight on the ones I have seen. the 2 I have owned needed only minor tweeks, and some new pegs, bridge, tail piece and head. I used 000 steel wool dipped in oil on the crazing on the necks. they both came out beautiful. the mahogany used was very nice. I would have bought it if I didn't want another 12 string
