Update - Remember, The American dollar is worth quite a bit more than the Canadian buck these days so why not take advantage of this fact. We're looking to $2200.00 Cdn for this banjo and that is equal to about $1750.00 US. In fact this is the best time to buy a new banjo from a Canadian builder for this reason - just saying . . .

I am selling a banjo for a good friend of mine in James Gordon so I figured that this would be a good place to let you know about it. It is a Vega Pete Seeger Longneck - circa 1964 (Serial # A124260) . James purchased this banjo from a friend in 1977 and had been playing it right up until he got his new banjo that I built for him in 2010. He brought this instrument to me for an assessment because he was thinking of selling it. It just wasn't being played much anymore so he thought somebody else should be playing it.

I checked the instrument checked from top to bottom and it basically needed a good cleanup, some binding repair, a small split repaired and a head replacement. Important - This banjo has not been "restored". It still has all the dings, dents and capo marks in the neck that you would expect to see on a banjo that is this well traveled and played by a professional musician. The banjo was meticulously measured, disassembled, gently cleaned and reassembled right back to the way it was when it came apart. The head tension is even the same as before. It is as it was all those years James had been playing it - it's just missing the grunge, dirt and blood (ask James about the blood next time you see him) that used to be on it. Also, the prized yellow factory label is still there and in great shape. Here is a Dropbox link to a folder of pictures for your perusal.
