Got an RB-175 on E.Bay last week. Great sounding banjo with only four digits of serial number dimly visible. I have read explanations of refinishing requiring sanding down serial numbers, but what about theft! I know several members have recounted banjo thefts over the years. As the premier Banjo database, does BHO have a stolen banjo registry?
I have been the victim of theft of tools and firearms three times in the past ten years.I reported the serial numbers but never recovered items. We should have somewhere to check when we see a banjo for sale that lists a serial number or partial number; pictures, etc.
I've only been on BHO for a few months. If it's there please lead me to it. I would love to read comments about finding Pete Seeger's stolen first long neck or catching the thief of Mike Halloran's banjo!
