I have always liked Bart's banjos, and his work in general. Always solid. A Reiter PS-style longneck is a pretty rare bird.

Looks pretty nice. a bit more oxidation than I expected to see. About half the price of a used Pete Seeger. I wonder how it sounds.

There's a BHO member here in Maine that owns one. I have seen it and played it and (IMO) the quality exceeds that of the post-1961 Vega PS-5's. I haven't seen the owner in 3-4 years...I'll try and contact him to see if it might be his.

Bart makes great banjos. For $1995, I'd buy that in a minute, no questions asked! Well, my wife might ask, "you bought another banjo"?

PickinFool, are we married to the same woman?

Maybe.

I have a photo of the Reiter long neck to which Mainejohn refers. The owner stated that it was made in 1991, and the one on Mandoweb is listed as a 1992. The one in Maine has an armrest and what appears to be Bart's standard bridge, while the Mandoweb offering has no armrest and a different bridge with white inserts. They also have different tailpieces, and the head on the mando banjo appears to be a new Fiberskin. I think that they are two different banjos.
