Hi...I just joined the long neck grp and wanted to make myself known to the group. I purchased a new Pete Seeger Vega in 1964 back when I was still in Highschool. I was a big Kingston Trio fan. I played it for a bout 15 years and then discovered Bluegrass. The Vega hung on my wall for many years untillphone with unplated brass parts from Rickard and an asian neck with a tree of life inlay. I'm still getting used to the tube-a-phone, open back sound. Its been a long time since I played such an instrument. I'm making a second long-neckbut this time I'm using a mastertone type tone ring but open back and with a vega type bracket band. has anyone tried this before and if so, how did it turn out.I would like to hear any stories from those that have put together their own long-necks.

The cursor seemed to have a mind of its own. what is missing is that I sold the seeger vega cause I no longer used it as I became a bluegrass player. I recently made ( assembled) a long neck using a vega-type tube-a-phone tone ring and bracket band. all metal parts made of brass with an Asian neck with tree-of-life inlay.

	PickinFool says: 5/16/2014 2:02:35 PM I have a Rickard "tubaphone" pot, with the bracket band, and a Gold Tone "seconds" long neck attached. It's a killer! I enjoy playing it just as much as my Deering-Vega long neck.

Im taking my long neck to Kingston Trio camp in a few weeks....can't wait to see and hear how it stacks up against all the pete seeger vegas that will be in attendance. Both the old Boston Vegas and the newer Deering version. Its been so long since I had a Pete Seeger Vega (Boston) that I really don't remember hpw they sound or feel. Hey Pickenfool, I'd love to see pix of your long-necks. An, Hey Tonys, thanks for the welcome. Still haven't decided which of my long-necks I like best ( Flathead or Tube-a-phone ).
