Has anyone ever installed and 11" or 10 15/16" Whyte Laydie (or Tubaphone) tone ring on an PW Gibson thin rim banjo? I have a couple of Kalamazoo rims that would, I think, make excellent candidates for this sort of combination. I will likely give it a try as it seems like something that could provide a very good clawhammer sound. These old Kalamazoos have a good tone without any tone rings. Any thoughts or experience with such a Hybrid? I think this pot combination would be really effective with a long neck conversion as these banjos have their old resonators to help project the sound.
