Thank you for maintaining this site. It does appear that we longneckers dwell in an obscure outpost of the banjo world, but I continue to proselytize that long neck banjos offer many features that the other banjos don’t. Best to all.

PS - As I wrote this, I had a lingering question – am I right in assuming that the age demographic of those of us play long neck banjos is skewed heavily to the “geezer “range
, where I myself fit? I wonder if there is any move to embrace longneck banjos in younger banjo enthusiasts.

Peter, Maybe we older folks know about the LN from Pete Seeger? Maybe younger players should be exposed to his stuff by good teachers? Then they can save up for a LN if they like ??

Fast Heart Mart does it proud. look him up. He's a pro busker based in San Diego. He uses a Hartford with Medium strings. We booked him at fiddlers dream.org over here in Phx. in 2018.
He says busking with a guitar is ok.
But once he went to banjo he found that he made more money.
Imagine paying for a Hartford by working on the street.

We were the essential ugly ducklings. I'm only 18, but long ago in '62 when things were different, we even had to build our own neck from a nice 2 x 4 with HO track for frets and that little spike from Tiny John Henry's tiny little shaker, The little steam drill had run out. darn.
Now we are a flock of swans. Flocks feather with the young.
It appears that swans migrate.
In 2005 a Gold Tone flathead longneck with resonator migrated to Arizona.
By 2009 maturity produced a Midnight Zephyr with the same neck and rez.
Been molting steadily ever since.
Roll modeling for banjo can't be found with T.Swift, yet.
Swans chase golfers because they want to wash their balls in public
Way too young this winged migration.
