I recently made an E banjo, but instead of it having 25 frets and a 32" scale, it has 24 frets and a 26 1/4"scale.

Might be a great idea if you want that longneck sound but don't have long arms or fingers.

	phdm says: 8/8/2022 11:17:44 AM Several years ago I was in Halifax, Nova Scotia and went to the iconic folk story there (I forget the name of it, but it is well-known.) Many banjos and guitar, but one caught my eye. It was hanging high up and looked like a long neck, with three extra frets, but it was somewhat different. The owner/luthier got it down for me and explained that is was a short scale long neck that he had built for his wife who had short arms. Three extra frets like a Seeger long neck, open tuned to E/C, but smaller and shorter and lighter all around. I have always thought since that this is a brilliant idea. If I didn't already have two long necks, I might have bought it, if his wife was willing to part with it.
