I have a 1961 Vega Pete Seeger longneck. Does anyone know the head crown height for this model, given its tubaphone tone ring? Pretty certain that the width is 10 15/16, but any info to the contrary will be helpful as well.

	phdm says: 12/3/2019 9:17:47 PM Doug – I have a 62 Vega Seger long neck and I know that the crown height is an issue. You are correct that the diameter is 10 15/16. I believe that the crown height is the narrowest/shallowest available, rather than the widest/deepest. ( I can’t quite remember how the crown heights are designated.). I hope this helps. Peter

	calypsojimmy says: 12/3/2019 10:24:59 PM Boy it's been a while since I had to deal with a new head for my PS Longneck... but I seem to remember that Tony Creamer (pronounced Kramer) up at Fretted Instruments Workshop in Amherst MA would always tell me to get a high crown head for my longneck. This is a distant recollection, though… Tony would be a good source for the correct answer, as would guys like Bob Smakula.

I did change the original head to a Remo Fiberskin with a medium (1/2 inch) crown height. Works fine, but may change back to original head, also of medium crown height. Either way I don’t believe I’ve screwed up the banjo’s wonderful tone. DoBaFe

Please know that I did appreciate your answers and information about other sources. Folks who know much about longneck banjos, or Pete Seeger for that matter, sadly are hard to find.
