well, on reverb.com there are a few Vega PS Longnecks currently listed for sale. There's a 1974 Martin/Vega PS longneck asking $2450. There are a couple of Vega PS's from 1961-62 that are in the $4200-$4500 range. It certainly is a buyers market for longnecks these days... I'm not sure these asking prices are generating any actual sales. It doesn't surprise me that a clean Martin/Vega PS longneck is priced at 50% of the older Vega models. Also note: the old Vega SS-5 Folklore longnecks seem to be actually selling in the $1,000-$1200 range these days. My uninformed guess is that a Martin/Vega PS model in good shape would currently be going for in between $1200-$2400... Qualifier: I am no dealer, so everything I say here is kind of seat-of-the-pants. &I'd be interested to hear what others have to say.

Likewise - I find the asking prices and what they actually sell for seem to be widely apart and not just on these banjos - I'd go for the $1200-$2400 range but doubt if there's much chance of over $2000.

sold my Martin built (out of Vega parts #481) 2 months ago for an equally mint Ome Grubstake and a grand. I would put the $ value of the transaction at $2200.
The long neck market is very slow with few like minded buyers out there but, they are out there. It just takes time to find one.
Having said that, I'd bet one for sale around $1200 would go so fast, It would make your head spin.
