in the last 2 weeks, 2 Ode long neck banjos have sold on Ebay. A Baldwin/Ode for sub$600 and yesterday, a model 33 grade 2 for sub $900.

Is it that strange, John? I've been wondering for a while about the long-neck market. Most of those who lust after a long-neck are people who cut their teeth on the music of Pete Seeger, Dave Guard, Tommy Makem and other folk-revival guys. That fan group is getting older, and many of its members are thinking more about getting rid of stuff than acquiring more stuff.

These things go in cycles folks - how many banjo ukulele players did you know a few years back, or tenor banjo players?? Only takes for the kids to cotton on the ol longneck is fun and easier to play in some ways OR some star to feature it and you will see the prices go through the roof. After all prewar 5 string mastertones were 'old fashioned and some even being converted to electric lamps prior to Earl popularising them!

I sure hope Cleitus is right; been sitting on a PS-1, Xcel, Custom, and a bunch of ODEs for years now....hard to choose whether to let ‘me go at current market or wait till I’m too old to remember what they are....

The "33" was a fair price and would make a nice entry-level long neck. Our band plays about 35 gigs a year and it's nice to see KT 3.0 playing around. Still...none, especially young folk, come up to me and ask where they can get one of those cool banjos.

after getting totally screwed on the last Ode, this one is a beauty. It is solid with no cracks and an arch top. my work continues however, because it was the dirtiest banjo I've ever found with a film or something all over it. for the price I got it, I'm quite happy to be cleaning. the old Harptone case is near mint inside and out. there is not a trace of fret wear. I wish my 43 had been in this condition.
I sold off the original planets and the tail piece because the t/p does not work well with my strings and I prefer the Rotomatics.
this is the best buy I've ever found. I wonder how long I'll keep it...until I find something else I can't live without...
