I had been using a Russel elastic capo on my Vega. I was lazy...I could leave it anywhere on the neck and still put it in the case.

I have now found the Shubb fine tune capo. I think it is the best capo around.

My banjo has much clearer tones, sharp and projecting. I always thought the Russel kinda muffled the sound and now I know it did.

the pads on the new Shubb are very protective for the back of the neck as well as the sides. really like it. I just have to remove it when I put it in the case.

	calypsojimmy says: 11/13/2017 9:10:56 AM My first longneck was a used Vega Pete Seeger from probably 1958 or so.... wooden dowel etc. A great piece. The finish of the neck on that instrument was a sunburst with or a thick original protective topcoat of something or other ... that got kinda soft in the summer months.. a previous owner seemed to have left a Bill Russell elastic capo on it for long enough so that the elastic created a permanent "elastic footprint" on thast neck's finish ... impossible to correct without at least a spot neck re-finish. Since then I gave up on Bill Russell capos on my longneck, and I have even taken to re-lining my banjo capos' clamp material on the underside of the neck with sueded leather, just in case.

Shubb fundamentally changed the capo experience for everyone when they first came out. I like Paiges too, for banjo. I actually have used a Paige classical Guitar (non-radiused) capo on my longneck for quite some time and I like it a lot.
