PS-5 on ebay at 2300 or best offer...Ode model 21 on Reverb at 2100 obo for 3 years without an offer...got my Vega for less than 2k and it is dead mint...you can't get 800 for an RB-175(or a 180?) or a Vega SS-5...what's going on?

Getting older and arthritic plus the passing of a good many old folkies means more of these classic banjos hitting the market. Sadly, there is a dearth of youngsters to carry on the music and the long neck tradition. The banjos go begging for a buyer at prices from 10 years ago. Sad.

Wifey was urging me to sell some of mine, so for an hour or so I considered putting them on BHO and eBay. But then I discovered that prolly none of them would sell for what $$ I put into purchasing them and repairing them. I 'spose I'll just let somebody take care of the decisions at my estate sale ....

I thought with Pete Seeger's passing the instrument would have risen in interest in value. It all gets back to the sound it makes and who is playing it. WE need to promote songs that highlight the instruments low register and support artists like Kaia Kater. As for value based on workmanship and design it's in the $3000 range IMO.

nice Ode in classifieds and one on Reverb...Reverb banjo is 3 years without an offer...have to watch the 2 Epiphone Plantations in classified...big difference in price but no action...both look minty.

Now, a couple of Christy's and a Black Diamond Deering. Christy's are priced to sell in what might be Lifton cases but the Black Diamond ad and price have me asking questions.
Don't really need another banjo but, I'm tempted to start making some "agressive" offers.

model 21 Ode is still without an offer, now, there a minty Martin/Vega gathering dust on Reverb too...both look to be about a grand too high...someone buy my 12 string and I'll rectify that

been making some 50% offers lately(or less, what the hell! it's done to me). picked up a nice Bacon long neck to rebuild at a very good price. I've got some vintage patent pending Grovers and a matching 5th for it as well as a new Kirschner t/p...make a good candidate for harp strings, me thinks
