Which tuning?

From beetlegeist on 3/20/2011 7:16:19 PM

Just a simple question, which I would like to ask you all.  Which tuning do you prefer to use, C,G,D,A or G,D,A,E?

I use C,G,D,A because the sound is brighter. It will be interesting to know what the majority prefer.

I just started playing probably a month ago and have been using GDAE

I started playing in february and I immediatly decided to use the GDAE tuning, I really love the deep notes the banjo can make with this tuning.

Yeah Ted, I agree. Maybe because I also play five string banjo I crave those deeper tones.

GDae all the way. Being a fiddler as well, I like to use drones in airs and slow airs.

I use ADae on my 17 fret Gold Tone IT250F as I play a lot in D and A and it rings. Gives more tension and truer noting on the 4th string.
