I created this group in order to learn as much as I possibly can about the beautiful banjos built by Ty Piper. I have only owned one of them. I have played several and loved them all. Lets talk about tone rings, rims, and peghead shapes. Does anyone know when Ty went from his heavy brass hoop tone ring to the more conventional flathead designed tone ring. I believe it was a no hole flathead ring.

	banjosef says: 8/27/2017 10:25:35 PM Greetings, I recently purchased a top tension Imperial banjo from Elderly a little while ago. What I noticed is the resonator is only held in by two lug bolts and they have washers under them so they don't slip thru. This seems very odd. Any comments? The banjo sounds great though.
