Hatfield Buck Creek being built for Vet

From Bnjopikr1956 on 8/19/2014 3:42:46 PM

Hi ,

I am new here, but play some banjo.

In June there was a fundraiser to buy a banjo

for our friend.

The MOST we could raise was $2700.00.

I was elected to purchase a banjo for him (RB250 Gibson  1976 Model !!!!)

Anyway, after alot of research, my choice was

to have Arthur Hatfield build one.

It will be given to him as a surprise on Sept 28th.

I will have to contact Arthur to see if he could meet this deadline, because he is a busy guy these days.

The Buck Creek Should be a great surprise for him.

By the way, this Afgan Vet servred 5 tours in

Iraq And Afghanistan.

He came back to us in April of 2014 with

serious injuries that were combat related.

He was both physically and mentally torn apart. Double amputee legs, PTSD.....

So, to get to the nitty gritty, we wanted him to have something in his life to make it shine again.

PS He has a hellav alot of friends, and family

who will continue to support him as he gets his life back.

Best Wishes and any input will be appreciated.

Dennis

Wow. What a wonderful thing. I can say the Hatfield is so much better than the 250 and as good as banjos twice the price. I am sure your man will be very happy with this gift.

Dennis, your post made me nervous - so nervous, in fact, that I just called Arthur and Bev to see if you were in the queue. Arthur has more banjos on order right now than he ever has.

But in talking to them, it sounds like you've had your order in for a while and this wonderful gift is in fact in the works.

What a wonderful friend you and your buddies are. And what a superb gift for your heroic friend!!!

May God bless you all.

Dennis, my heart is warmed by your story. My Hatfield banjo is my most prized possession, and I know your friend will feel the very same. He will be so blessed by your gift.

Arthur and Beverly, thank you for letting your light shine so brightly for this precious young man. God's blessings to you, as well.

Dennis, how awesome this is! I wish we could share in letting him know we appreciate his service. Would it be possible for us to write notes to him here someplace that you could print out and give to him with the banjo? Just a thought. I'd like to say "Thanks".

Hi all,
His name is also Dennis.
I am little Den
He is Big Dennis.

What a great bunch of people.
Big Den is currently in a military
medical rehab facility and will
Be there for some time.
Additional surgeries are needed,
it's a long story..

We are going to fly out to see him in
California to see him in very early
October and surprise him with the banjo.
The military (Army), has been limiting who has contact with him.
THEY are being extremely
uncooperative..even to his immediate
Family.
It's like they don't want anyone to
See him. Long story ,won't get into that now.
The outpouring of support from
This group really floored me.
To Beverly...what a super lady...what can I say..if you were here I would give you a hug!!! with Arts permission of course...heck..I would hug Art too.
Tee Shirt Size
Lil ' Dennis. Large
Big Dennis. X large.

I promise when he is finally back
home, you will get to chat, by phone if you want to him.

God Bless And Peace to all,
Dennis

Dennis,
Tell him about the hangout, 80,000 strong and all in love with the banjo. Tell him of the learning that goes on here and the friendship. Tell him it is like a room with a big pot belly stove in the winter with everybody chatting and picking. Does he have access to a computer now? maybe he wants to get a name and join the hangout. he can listen to music and start communicating. if the army will let him.

Make sure you direct your buddy to BHO too.... some great stuff on this site for the owner of a new banjo. There's also a "Military Pickers" group on BHO (of which I am a member).

Wish him a speedy recovery and the strength to adapt and overcome!

Thanks RT. I will be seeing him after banjo is here and will fill him in on BHO.
