From erikforgod on 5/22/2011 7:31:19 AM

Sorry guys to be flooding the group with so many questions: Have any of you guys every traveled and flown with your Goodtimes? I am only going to have a gigbag when I come back to Argentina with my banjo...the reason I ask i according to Aerolineas Argentinas ( this is the airline we will be flying on ) they have a measurement limit of like 120 centimeters square for hand bagges...I checked..the goodtime is about 12 inches by 33 inches...thats prettty tight...any suggestions..comments?

When I flew I was asked not to bring any handluggage any longer than 1 meter because it may not fit in the overhead compartments. So it had to go into the hold. As a precaution I bought a solid guitar case. I am still looking for a banjo case but they can be very expensive. A proper Deering case is very expensive.

Check with Banjo.com when you purchase your banjo they should have hard cases that aren't too expensive.

The generic case I bought cost $69 and seems just about as sturdy as the only Deering supplied one I've seen. If it has to go in the hold make sure you pack the head and neck joint so it doesn't get broken from a whiplash effect when handled. I haven't experienced this but others have mentioned it here on the BHO. Best of luck.

I have read that several have brought gig bags and passed into ther galley of the plane without any problems. Aerolienas Argentinas, lets you take up to 25 kilos and anything within like 30 inches square or there abouts. Evrone says the overhead bins in the Airbuses will fit...its a A340-300 jumbo we are coming in on.
