I'm new here so pardon me if I'm repeating a previously-asked question. I have owned a big, heavy long-neck banjo for 30 years where it has mostly slept in its case. I have started to play again and feel that I'm weightlifting every time I lift it out of the case and strap it on. I'm thinking of getting a new, light banjo and am interested in the Goodtime Artisan. However, I'm getting old and my hands are of average size. I sometimes have difficulty with fingering stretches on my present instrument with a 27" scale when capoed at the normal G fret. I was thinking about the possibility of getting an Artisan Parlor banjo. I know I will be giving up three frets but I can't imagine I'll ever play above the twelfth fret. For those of you who are familiar with the Parlor, what would be the downside of my buying the Parlor vs the normal-length instrument in terms of sound and playability. I've capoed up on my instrument to a 24" scale and I find that pretty comfortable. Yet I know that there must be a good reason that banjos normally have a 26¼" scale.

	Pinkyvk says: 7/10/2017 7:59:17 AM I have a Goodtime Parlor and a regular Goodtime. I love my Parlor because I had a shoulder and arm injury and it was lighter and easier to play for me. I can play my reg Goodtime with no problems now since I've recovered and am thinking of re-homing my Parlor. I think you'd like a Parlor from my experience, I loved playing mine and I never noticed the missing frets.

I know I said I was thinking of rehoming her, but I know I'd miss her. I still play her every day after I play my full size, the sound is a little different, but boy is she fun. Keep me posted please!
