Setup of my 2005 Blackjack

From jbluemel on 12/7/2015 4:47:28 PM

The banjo is stock except for the 11/16" Snuffy bridge and a Waverly tailpiece.  The Waverly seems to help with note definition.  Also, I like to keep the head as tight as I can get it.  I prefer the tone to be as clear and hollow as possible and a tight head gets you that.  This banjo is a real dream to play.  People always comment on the tone.

Black jacks are great banjos. How tight is the head? Have you checked it with a drum dial for a reference number, or do you tap tune?
I've never done anything to my 2007 other than tighten the head occasionally and change strings.
