Hello and good to be here !

From Ralph Stanley legend on 4/8/2014 2:43:17 PM

I would like to say a great big ( as Ralph would say ) HOWDY to you all and I am very happy to be here. I have been playing Bluegrass Banjo for eeeeeek 25 plus years and without question, the BEST sounding Banjo I ever had was an old Gibson Ball bearing.

In fact I am just looking for either a late 20's Archtop ( 40 hole or solid )  a Ball Bearing, must have a Wreath inlay !! Also considering a Stanleytone if I can locate one for sale.

It's good to be here, and thanks for having me !

best wishes

David

Welcome aboard, and good luck in your quest to find a Ball Bearing Banjo. As a new player I also find the best sounding banjo to be the Ball Bearing.

No question about it. It's an acquired taste but to me it's the best sound. I've been playing for about 28 or 29 years and I have finally found my sound--the ball bearing rocks!

Welcome David! I don't always play a BB, but when I do; I choose my '26 Style 5.
