Hoow much should I expect to pay for a 26 BB Masterton

From Ragtimejoe on 11/25/2013 10:58:33 AM

How much should I expect to pay for a 1926 ball bearing Mastertone in excellent condition with a well made 5 string neck by a known maker with HSC?

Thanks

There are difference in 1926 Mastertones? Where can I find out what the differences were (if such a place exists)

I have a 26 BB in very good condition and it sounds great. Steve Huber sold it to the guy that I bought it from. $2800 (shipped) with a brand new TKL case. It has a Rogers hide head on it that is also in very good condition. Try it out and if you don't like it, I'll take it back. You would pay the return shipping. Lester Crowe (BHO member) has played this banjo and thought it was a very good one. PM me if interested. Or anyone else for that matter.
Thanks,
Mike

BTW, it is set up in the original configuration. All springs, washers, and ball bearings are in place. The washers with the beveled hole are on top of the springs to help keep the ball bearings centered.

I know of "26" TB3's all original with original case for $2200. That would make one that has already been converted to RB configuration at $2800 with case, and shipping look very attractive.

Ragtimejoe
I have seen 1926 Mastertone's for sale in all the banjo configurations, PB, TB, MB, RB. Best wishes on your quest for a BB.

Th Differences in 1926 Mastertones are the Different Models with different degrees of ornamentation. Style, 3,4, Granada and Style 5 going from low end to high. earnestbanjo.com/gibson_banjos...style.htm

Linked by revellfa 9 years ago: 1923 TB-3 conversion. Balls and tone hoop but no springs on this model I'm told.
