I recently got a Menzies fretless tackhead and having a ball with it. Looking forward to ordering a Bowlin in the near future.

	Oldpiper says: 11/9/2011 6:48:38 PM I have no idea what it's called, but it is: dADF#A. Same as G but 5 steps lower - mostly for R.D. Lunceford's Cotton Blossom.
	Strumelia says: 11/9/2011 7:04:39 PM Excellent! Are you using Nylgut strings? What serial number is your Menzies? Mine is #226. :) dADF#A is actually THREE (whole) steps lower than G tuning....but it's five HALF STEPS lower. Most people would say it's 3 steps lower. Going down from G, it's: G-to-F, then F-to-E, then E-to-D. (There are some half steps in between some of these steps, like F#, etc.) Is that Lo Gordon in your avatar?- what a beauty.
	Oldpiper says: 11/9/2011 7:09:51 PM Whole steps - half steps! Please don't confuse me. I have drawings all over trying to learn tunings to little avail. Yes, that's a Lo Gordon and I love it. The only banjo I've bought recently with a scale length that fits me. The Menzies is a little long and I can't find a serial number on it. My strings are flouro carbon (I think) that came with it when I bought it from Aaron Keim. I like the sound.
