Fretless banjo can be demanding, but one side-benefit I didn't expect was how it impacted my playing on a fretted instrument. I find that, because much of the sustain of a fretted instrument is removed, I have to be both more precise and 'note-ier' (for want of a better word) when I'm playing the same tunes on my fretless banjo--more hammers, alt. pulls, pulls, and slides--than on my fretted instruments, which makes my playing overall more interesting on both types.

	championofnorthhuron says: 2/4/2017 8:30:33 AM One of the side benefits I find as a result of playing fretless and going back to frets is that I become more precise in fretting directly behind the fret as opposed to just sloppily mashing down as long as I'm anywhere behind the fret. Slides certainly become a disappointment going back to frets though, don't they?
