Bridge?

From Mitch Finley on 11/23/2011 9:07:25 AM

Has anyone tried a different bridge on the Williams KI ?  It comes with a Wadsworth, but that's sounding a bit too bright to me lately...

Wadsworth is on mine. I imagine two Wadsworth bridges that look the same can give different tones. Once I got mine setup properly I left it alone and it is consistant now or atleast to me. I think alot of the time it is they way were hearing and some variance from humidity.

I have got one of Arnold Clayton's 2-footed bridges on my PB-1 conversion and I love the sound of it. Arnold is on the BHO as banjoman62.

That is interesting. I've got a Wads on mine, 11/16", and it sounds a little too deep for me.

Arnold's bridges sound great on each banjo I've put them on. I have 2 more on order right now. I've had no problem with any deflection in the center of the bridge.

David (Jusagrinnin) I remember when you had your banjo at IBMA ..it was brand new..I think. You and Jim must have tried a dozen Wadsworth bridges before settling on the right one.

Bridges are funny. No two sound the same. Even two bridges from the same maker and wood source might vary slightly.

Plus... beauty is in the ear of the beholder. We all hear things a little differently. I like a deep sound. maybe that is why I chose to keep the original Wadsworth on my Williams.

Hey John That is when I first met you Jim "King Ring" Burlile and Richard Brown. I really enjoyed that day and y'all was very kind to help set up and pick the banjo getting it to sound the way Jim designed them.

I am using a Gary Sosebee bridge now FWIW.
